ABOUT ME
HOW I DISCOVERED MY PASSION FOR INTERIOR DESIGN…
My name is Franziska Demmig, and I have had a deep passion for design, art, and architecture since I was a teenager.
For as long as I can remember, I loved transforming my room by rearranging furniture and redecorating, creating new living experiences each time. At the age of 14, I took part in an interior design competition (hülsta). Although I didn’t win first prize with my concept — a fully redesigned youth bedroom — this was when it all began: I enthusiastically started planning spaces and their furnishings with pencil and graph paper.
After completing my A-levels, I moved frequently, which gave me the opportunity to furnish new spaces time and again. This made me fall in love with interior design — and also taught me the challenges that come with it.
Much of what I did came intuitively, but often it was learning by doing. Along the way, I made a few mistakes that cost me both time and money.
Inspiration and fresh ideas on functionality and design came from my travels and my work as an event manager. Especially during site inspections at high-end hotels, I quickly noticed that great design does not always equal great comfort — often seating and lounging comfort were lacking, or storage and surfaces were insufficient.
At the start of the 2000s, I had the opportunity to create and implement a complete interior concept for a client for the first time. This was followed by further projects, including a creative space for an advertising agency, an office, a redesign for a corporate cafeteria, as well as private residential and holiday properties.
PROFESSIONAL BACKGROUND
I initially studied Business Administration with a focus on Marketing. I then worked full-time for 20 years across a variety of industries, including sports nutrition (OTC), sportswear & fashion, digital media, fine foods, and most recently for a global leader in automatic door systems. My work spanned marketing & sales, key account, product & project management, innovation, event management, and executive assistant roles.
Alongside my career, I continued to pursue my passion for interior design and art and completed various interior design projects. In 2020, I decided to turn this passion into my profession and build it on a solid foundation. I completed a degree in Interior Design at STF in Zurich, further expanding my knowledge through extensive research and intensive workshops.
In 2022, I proudly earned my diploma as an Interior Designer.
That same year, I founded my own company and have since been working as an independent interior designer. I advise and support private clients, architects, and property developers in space planning and interior design — from inspiration and vision through to concept development and implementation.
It was well worth taking this unconventional and sometimes challenging path to finally dedicate myself fully to my true profession: Interior Design.
My previous career experience across different industries continues to benefit me in this field.
